College campuses are⚡️

What’s it like to be in the middle of 2,000 screaming incoming freshmen at Bid Day? Wait, the university bought a new articulated bus? What’s it like to be inside one when it turns? How cool is it to be crowned Homecoming King and Queen in front of 80,000 people? And did we just stick students on the engineering building’s walls with duct tape? Capturing familiar people doing interesting things has been my winning strategy since 2022 at the University of Arkansas. Conveying what it’s like to be at the U of A through events and moments both big and small on short video is what makes social media such a powerful – and fun – platform.

What is remarkable live theatre?

As a regional theatre that produces its own shows, hires actors from big market cities, designs and builds elaborate sets, and maintains a robust costume collection and props shop, I felt that documenting the process behind the on-stage magic was the perfect way to market TheatreSquared to Northwest Arkansas audiences as well as building up its national reputation through social media. From 2017 to 2021, I created content that included set load-in/strike time lapses, short 360 videos of key scenes, trailers utilizing video shot from final dress rehearsals, and more to boost attendance, ticket sales and membership revenues to record levels.

When a new architecturally significant building gets built, you have one chance to document the construction process and I made sure I was there throughout the two-year project. From having crane operators wear a 360 camera to capture what it's like to go to work each day, to having drones fly above the build site, I felt I was able to tell how 477 W Spring Street’s origin story for future theatre audiences.
